NEVADA LEGISLATURE

Sixty-ninth Session, 1997
_______________

ASSEMBLY DAILY JOURNAL
_______________

THE EIGHTY-NINTH DAY
_______________

Carson City (Friday), April 18, 1997

Assembly called to order at 10:49 a.m.
Mr. Speaker presiding.
Roll called.
All present except for Assemblymen Braunlin, Carpenter, Ernaut, Goldwater, Lambert, Marvel, Neighbors, Parks, Tiffany and Williams, who were excused.
Prayer by the Chaplain, The Reverend Thomas D. Tostenson.
William Penn once said, "Men shall either be led by God, or ruled by tyrants." Throughout our world we see countless examples of this founding father's wisdom. Despot replacing Despot, oppression following oppression. Even tomorrow, we as a people are reminded of our own plight with the second anniversary of the Oklahoma bombing. Father, let us not fall into the error of so many ancient civilizations, who you judged with the words, "in those days men did what was right in their own eyes." Lest in an attempt to exercise liberty, we initiate tyranny. Father lead us, that by Your guidance our liberties may be secured. Help us we pray, in the Name of Him who is slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness.

Amen.

Pledge of allegiance to the Flag.

Assemblyman Perkins moved that further reading of the Journal be dispensed with, and the Speaker and Chief Clerk be authorized to make the necessary corrections and additions.
Motion carried.
